It is a charitable trust made up of local people who are committed to the restoration of the historic 1912 theatre and its continued operation as the thriving entertainment heart of Devonport.

The theatre is owned by Auckland Council and the trust has a long-term lease to operate, maintain and restore the theatre.

The trust re-opened the Victoria Theatre in 2010 after an intensive community effort and is delighted that The Vic is now an integral part of Devonport life.

Last year we surveyed our community who told us they loved and valued The Vic but wanted us to improve the foyer. The Trust decided to prioritize foyer work ahead of seismic strengthening of the building.

We propose to double the space by enlarging and updating the foyer which will provide a more streamlined and comfortable service for our audience.

The work will also involve enhancing heritage features and re-carpeting the foyer and stairwell.

The cost is estimated at $730,000 and we will apply to Lotteries and Foundation North for the bulk of this amount. But we need to raise $200,000 ourselves and we are looking to our loyal community for help with this task.
